THE HISTORY OF SEAC
Find out about the history and evolution of SEAC as a UK manufacturer and supplier. From our humble beginnings over 100 years ago, to the innovation of our POLYTOPS® brand and continued growth and expansion since. We are a family-owned business with a long and proud heritage.
1916
The Beginning
H&S Pochin Limited

SEAC was originally incorporated as H&S Pochin Limited in 1916 as part of the Standard Engineering Company, specialising in the manufacture of fasteners and ancillary products.

1981
Patents
POLYTOPS® Registrations

Following a management buyout from Halma PLC in 1978, we registered the POLYTOPS® trademark in 1981. With POLYTOPS® pins, nails, screws and rivets made available in zinc plated steel, this opened new markets such as internal caravan use.

1984
Product Enhancement
A2 Stainless Steel

From 1984-1991, responding to demand for products for outdoor applications, SEAC supplied A2 stainless steel as an option in the then POLYTOPS® range. This was later replaced by A4 stainless steel in 1991.

1991
Responding To Feedback
A4 Stainless Steel

With a relentless approach to innovation, and in response to customer feedback, we carried out tests which found that A4 stainless steel nails came out better in corrosion tests. As a result, we upgraded our POLYTOPS® from A2 to A4 Stainless Steel nails, with positive feedback since.

2005
Company Change
Management Buyout

With a strategic vision for change, the leadership team at SEAC led a management buyout of the company. Backed by asset-based funding, the successful buyout secured a future for the company and its employees and paved the way for SEAC to capitalise on new market opportunities for commercial growth.

2008
Bigger Space
Moved Premises

Following the management buyout, SEAC experienced sustained growth leading to the requirement for a larger warehouse and office space. As a result, there was a move into new premises at Unit 2-4 Chartwell Drive in Wigston Leicestershire. The site has continued to develop as the company continues to grow.

2015
CE
POLYTOPS® CE Mark

In 2015, SEAC took a significant step forward with the attainment of CE Mark EN14592 for our POLYTOPS® pins (24, 30, 40mm) and nails (40, 50, 65mm). This achievement further underlined SEAC’s commitment to high standards and high performance.

2016
Family Run
Became a family-owned business

SEAC became a family-owned business. At the heart of this evolution is our vision of a profitable, values-led business defined by a shared sense of purpose & belonging, where every employee feels valued and invested in the company's future. Our people are the key to our success in building and growing our legacy as a flagship for UK manufacturing in the fasteners & fixings industry.

2019
Roofing Membrane
SEAC launches WRAPTOR® Roofing Membrane

In response to market demand, SEAC launched the WRAPTOR® brand – a breathable waterproof roofing membrane with 3-layer thermal lamination. Fully BBA approved, BS5534 Compliant in all wind zones, and 100% recyclable, the WRAPTOR® range complements and strengthens our existing & growing product portfolio.
